“What’s your rush? Sooner we get there..”

“Carmen Jones”, 1954 [She had to hear him say it. Aw, heart-wrenching. One of my faves. Profound messages and so much fun, until the ending anyway.]

Carmen: “What’s your rush? Sooner we get there, quicker we gotta bust apart.”

Joe: “Cut that out. Get over where you belong.”

Carmen: “That’s just what I’m doin’.”

Carmen: “Suppose I never come back?”

Joe: “You’d never get away from me. I’d follow you down the rivers across the sea, to hell or up to heaven. Why’d you ask?”

Carmen: “Just to hear you say it.”
