Systemic racism is real, and it’s undeniably damaging.

Systemic Loopholes and Desensitization of Oppression – A Glimpse into Discrimination Against People of Color.

Even in these times where injustices are obvious, there are still those who doubt the occurrence of oppression against blacks and other people of color. If you’re one of those doubtful individuals I urge you to read the following article by New York Times: “No Textbooks, No Resources, Parents Complain.” And that issue is just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s an excerpt from that article. “RuthAnne Arnum tries to be an active participant in her children’s education, she says. But Ms. Arnum hit a roadblock recently when she tried to help her son Gerard review a math quiz he had problems with. Struggling to recall her own fifth-grade math, Ms. Arnum asked to see Gerard’s textbook. But he didn’t have one. No one in his class at Miller Avenue School did” (Cotroneo). The problem of not having textbooks is still prevalent in the major cities of New York and elsewhere in the country. Yet, in the suburban schools and private schools, what do the students have for study material? Textbooks and some also have computers. Again, if you’re one of those who doubt that there’s a systemic problem of oppression against people of color, I encourage you to read the entire article so you can get a glimpse of what desensitization of oppression looks like. Something else to know is that the graduation rates for city highs schools, those which don’t provide textbooks for their students, are drastically lower than those for the high schools where textbooks are provided. This oppression alone sparks off a domino effect of disadvantage and susceptibility to people of color experiencing more oppression over time. Defund the Police to make a happier, more peaceful society. In doing so, Reform, Rebuild, Reorganize, and Reallocate. 1. Reform the laws regarding criminal justice. 2. Rebuild the police force with better standards in police training. 3. Reorganize to form the compatible programs for efficient response to 911 calls. 4. Reallocate the funds to where they’re needed most. Vote “Yes” for Reforms! Say “Yes” to Defunding the Police! #SayNoToRacism #SayYesToJustice #SayYesToPeace
