If you’ve seen it, then you know who she’s looking at/singing to and who that woman is looking at her. Just wow. I heart film noirs, and this is one of my all-time favorites. It’s generally not classified as film noir, but it is. And to put it mildly, I dislike musicals, but this—fantastic! No matter how many times I watch it, I get so lost in the story that even though the ending is shocking, I can happily watch the movie again and again. It’s all about the journey for this one, at least for me it is. There are definitely some valuable lessons to learn about romantic relationships from this movie, and it’s so much fun to watch the story progress! Also, magnificent performances from all the actors, especially Dorothy Dandridge and Harry Belafonte. [Image Source: Carmen Jones, 1954]
