A Texas school teacher took a stand for civil rights by wearing a Black Lives Matter mask and as a result, she was fired by her school. After being unjustifiably fired, Ms. Lillian White then proposed a petition to help end racism in schools, which demands the formation of an action plan that would be implemented in schools throughout the United States. This teacher is a real-life hero who carried on with her peaceful protest for anti-racism despite being told to stay quiet about it. Silence really is violence. Speaking up is what helps to end oppression against others. Read the article about this teacher on CNN, and sign her petition at Change.org. We need more teachers like her in public schools and also as officials in school administrations. My hope for her is that she’ll be hired to work on the school board in Texas or in another state.
