BIF! Fascist capitalist! Funny thing is, even when they attack traditionally published authors, it tends to be that they’re wanna-be-authors themselves who are pursuing only traditional publishing but have either been unsuccessful with their published book or they have been rejected by traditional publishing houses. Too proud to publish indie. Little do they know, most of us chose it first (didn’t pursue trad pub). Narcissist, self-absorbed psychos all around. They’re a twilight zone all on their own. Welcome to the new era of book publishing. I recommend Google searching “good reads trolls.” You’ll learn a few things. They scout authors, especially on NetGalley. So, beware of that platform too, though generally (otherwise) I do like NetGalley. The disturbing reality of the matter is, there’s a scammer book reviewing organization out there, and I quite simply can’t be bothered to play detective and expose it all, but maybe, eventually somebody will. For now, just be smart and be aware (watch those emails). Visit also the Writer Beware Blog at accrispin.blogspot.com. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, two organizations I recommend joining (there are others but at least these two) are: IBPA (Independent Book Publishers Association) and ALLI (Alliance of Independent Authors). I recommend reading also the following blog post, which I recently found: “The History of Paid Book Reviews, Cowardly Book Review Trolls and Author Bashing Trolls” – http://cherylktardif.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-history-of-paid-book-reviews.html. Author Cheryl Kaye Tardif has been in the industry for a long time and so she knows it better than most. Keep in mind the post was written in 2013, but not much has changed since then. Overall, there’s a lot to learn from this blog post of hers. I appreciate her message. Very insightful.
