Democratic Socialism is not the twisted form of government that the fascists would rather you believe it to be. It is not communism, nor is it the old form of socialism that occurred in Eastern Europe. Democratic Socialism is the most efficient form of government in which the people have freedom to earn and at the same time help each other as a community. It’s important to be knowledgeable of this specific type of government because it is the key platform for progressive change and reforms in this nation and also in the overall world. The most stable countries in the world, with the happiest residents, tend to follow this form of government, a democratic socialism model. Listen, a rose by any other name is still a rose. In other words, you can call it any other name you want, but this is it.
Democratic Socialism consists of having free healthcare for everyone (Medicare For All), having a police force that truly serves the public and cares for the nation’s people (Defund & Reform the Police), Strong Unions for Workers, The Green New Deal (including Caring about Climate Change and Increasing Jobs), Adequate Housing (An End to Homelessness), and several other important matters that the common people (all the people actually) in a nation need. It’s about having freedom and also caring for others vs. caring only for oneself and the elites.
